In Many Minds About the Many-Worlds Interpretation of Quantum Mechanics

Organized by Poornaprajna Institute of Scientific Research (PPISR), Bengaluru.

Is the Many Worlds Interpretation (MWI) of Quantum Mechanics (QM) a clever way to make QM universally unitary, or is it based on an unsound philosophy that mistakes possibilities for actualities, or yet again, is it an interesting idea useful for something else other than resolving the quantum measurement problem, for which it is intended? During 17--19, December 2009, a discussion meeting is being convened by PPISR at Bidalur to try to review arguments that have been proposed for and against MWI. The participants are researchers interested in the foundations of QM, but not necessarily working actively on MWI. The list of confirmed speakers and the meeting program is available here.
